Joanne Heimer

Joanne Catherine Heimer, 73, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away surrounded by her husband and daughters on Saturday, June 5, 2010, at the Adams Health Care Center after a long battle with lung cancer.
Joanne was born on April 11, 1937 in Osage, Iowa, the daughter of Irene Blaser. Joanne was married to Eugene “Shorty” Heimer on January 8, 1957, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Johnsburg, Minn. Joanne and Shorty made their home in Adams, Minn. where they raised their five daughters. She was a homemaker and later worked at the local grocery store and as a school cook for the Southland Schools.
Joanne will be dearly missed by her husband, Eugene “Shorty” Heimer of Adams; daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and Bob Gilles of Rose Creek, Minn., Lori and Jeff Schammel of Owatonna, Minn., Connie and Lyle Hoff of Adams, Minn., Joni and Al DeMaris of St. Ansgar, Iowa, Jean and Jon Koster of St. Ansgar, Iowa; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenny and Sandy Jax of Apple Valley, Minn., Bob and Joann Jax of Mayer, Minn., Dave and Nancy Jax of Bloomington, Minn., John and Cindy Jax of Adams, Minn., Chuck and Charlene Jax of Bloomington, Minn.; nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams with Father James Steffes officiating. Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery. There will be a 6 p.m. rosary service on Tuesday at the Adams Funeral Home, where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. and at Adams Funeral Home on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
