Hayfield baseball team knocks off BP

Hayfield found its offense in a 6-2 win over No. 3 seeded Blooming Prairie in the first round of the Subsection 1A West Division baseball tournament Wednesday

The sixth-seeded Vikings (6-14 overall) took a 4-0 lead in the fourth inning when Dillon Wagner knocked in a run and Jarred Ellis knocked in two runs with a two-out double.

“It was the first time we’d played in two weeks and their pitcher (Aaron Krejci) was a very good pitcher,” Hayfield head coach Craig Selk said.

Hayfield’s Tyler Nelson had a no-hitter through four innings until Cooper Nelson broke it up with a single in the fifth.

Krejci had 10 strikeouts in the loss for BP (12-8 overall).

BP will play at No. 2 Randolph (17-4 overall) Thursday
