Donald Zahradnik

Donald Joseph Zahradnik, 73, of Austin passed away Saturday morning, June 19, 2010, at his home with his family near him.
He was born Aug. 24, 1936, in Austin to Henry and Agnes (Viktora) Zahradnik. He graduated from Austin High School in 1954. On June 22, 1963, Don married Kay Howard in Rochester, Minn. Don was involved in Cub Scouts and served as Cubmaster when the boys were young. He enjoyed collecting farm toys, loved to garden and work with his vegetables and flowers. Don served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked in Winona, owned a resort in northern Minnesota and moved back to Austin in 1982.
Survivors include his wife, Kay; his mother, Agnes Zahradnik of Austin; three sons, Steve (Laura) Zahradnik of Rose Creek, Minn., Doug (Chris) Zahradnik of Austin and Kurt Zahradnik of Austin; three grandchildren, Megan, Bryce and Amanda; a brother, Kenneth (Beverly) Zahradnik, of Rochester and a sister, LaVonne (Paul) Pettersen, of Stockton, Minn.; many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Worlein Funeral Home. Interment is at a later date.
