The Lyle Area Cancer Auction and KAUS Radio are partnering to sponsor a concert Friday at Austin’s VFW to raise money for cancer research.

Country singer Gwen Sebastian and local natives Six Mile Grove are both slated to perform.

Sebastian, an up and coming country artist from Hebron, N.D., will headline the show. Her first single “Hard Rain” reached No. 26 on the Music Row charts. Her latest single “V.I.P. (Barefoot Girl)” recently was ranked No. 51 on the charts.

All the money raised at the auction will go toward the yearly totals of the Lyle Area Cancer Auction, which raised $119,000 last year.

“The more people we get down there, the more money we raise for Lyle Area Cancer,” said organizer Jeff Ramaker.

Along with the performances, about 80 collectible items will be auctioned off at the event. Auction items will include autographed items from musicians like Randy Travis, Gretchen Wilson, Taylor Swift, Jessica Simpson, and driver Ryan Newman.

“I’m excited that there’s a lot of things to do for our first event,” Ramaker said.

Tickets are $10. A meal featuring, bratwurst, hamburgers and hot dogs will start at 5 p.m. Six Mile Grove will play at 7 p.m. followed by the auction. Sebastian is set to take the stage following the auction sometime shortly after 9 p.m.

Tickets are available at KAUS Radio, Bobby Jo’s and at the VFW. Tickets will also be available at the door.

The concert will be outdoors, weather permitting. The event will be held inside the VFW in case of inclement weather.

The plan is for the concert to at least become an annual addition to the Lyle Area Cancer Auction schedule of events, but Ramaker said organizers may try to hold the concerts multiple times each year.
