As the summer baseball season kicks into full gear, some familiar faces from the prep season are starting to pop up in the amateur ranks.

Less than two days after they played in the high school state baseball tournament, Southland’s Chris May and Alan May, and Rochester Mayo’s Steve Serratore, who lives in Austin, were at it again.

The three were suited up for the Blue Sox and were making plays, just like they were in their high school seasons.

Also, Mark Harber, an Austin grad, was playing for the Blue Sox and Austin Post 91 on Sunday, shortly after wrapping up his freshman season at St. Scholastica.

It’s good to see some area athletes who are passionate about their sport.

The fact that they are willing to jump right into the amateur season shows they are serious and are looking to improve their games.

Such hard work is a necessary factor to succeed at most things in life, especially in sports.

Lets hope the effort pays off for those area players.
