Blue Sox miss out on Spamtown final round

The Austin Blue Sox missed out on the final round of the Spamtown Challenge after losing to Shakopee 5-1 and having thier game against Prescott rained out Saturday at Marcusen Park.

In the loss to Shakopee, Nels Nelson allowed just two earned runs in seven innings, but the Blue Sox committed six errors in the loss.

Austin pulled within 2-1 in the third when Aaron Port knocked in a run with a two-out opposite field hit but Andy Swank was thrown out at third to end that frame.

Austin (14-6 overall) stranded two runners on third throughout the game.

The Blue Sox were leading the Prescott Pirates 4-3 in the top of the fourth when rain stopped the contest.
