The county’s longest serving commissioner is facing stiff competition in his race for re-election, while a challenger has yet to file against the newest commissioner.

Art Nelson filed Friday to run for county commissioner in District 3. Nelson joins Loren Bellrichard and John Bramwell as the third candidate to file against David Hillier, who’s served on the board since being elected in 1995.

While Hillier is facing three challengers, no challengers have filed yet to oppose Mike Ankeny in the 5th District. Ankeny ran against seven opponents in a special primary in January, and later defeated Ron Felten in a special election on Feb. 10.
