Staff at St. Mark’s Nursing Home are hosting a benefit dinner tonight for Tim Tieman and his parents Kelly and Doug, who are both nurses at St. Mark’s.
Tim was born prematurely around Thanksgiving and has frequently been treated at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester for respiratory difficulties.
A dinner of sloppy joes, salads and desserts will be held from 4 to 7:30 p.m. in the living room of St. Mark’s, 1401 Fourth Street SW. A freewill donation will be taken for the Tieman family.
Mindy Ohm, a nurse at St. Mark’s, said she and other staff at the nursing home are organizing the event because the employees are like extended family.
“Its what any good friend would do,” Ohm said.
Ohm said she hopes to raise about $1,500. Thrivent Financial For Lutherans has agreed to match donations up to that total.
The money will go toward helping the family pay for bills as they deal with Tim’s medical issues.
