The Southland softball team came off a one and a half week break and beat Plainview/Elgin/Millville (1-14 overall) 7-6 in Elgin Monday.

The Rebels (6-7 overall) took the lead for good in the top of the seventh when Haley Kirkpatrick advanced to third on a fly-out by Emily Howton. P/E/M’s relay throw bounced off of Kirkpatrick’s helmet and she scored on the play.

“We were a little bit rusty but it was good feeling to get a win again,” Southland head coach Greg Shulte said.
