Rebels split softball doubleheader

The Southland softball team split a doubleheader with Rushford/Peterson (10-9 overall), winning 3-2 and losing 21-10 in Rose Creek Thursday.
The Rebels (9-9 overall) trailed 2-0 entering the sixth inning of the first game when Jana Schammel hit a solo home run and Whitney Bamrick knocked in two runs with a single to make it 3-2.
“We did a nice job of coming back,” Southland head coach Greg Schulte said.
Jana Schammel picked up the pitching win in the first game as she allowed three hits and struck out six.
The Rebels rotated their lineup and tried to get everyone in the game in the nightcap.
