Just over a week after they had been swept by Dakota County and Rochester, the Blue Devils beat both teams at the Regional baseball Tournament in St. Cloud.

RCC (34-10 overall) topped Rochester 10-5 on Friday and it beat Dakota County 5-4 Saturday.

Riverland, which is playing without injured starters Shawn Pape and Brian Voigt, is now just two consecutive wins from getting back to the Junior College World Series in Tyler, Texas.

“The guys have stepped up and we’ve played loose and relaxed in the underdog role,” RCC head coach Scott Koenigs said. “Everybody’s stepping up.”

Renne Araujo beat out an infield hit with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to score Winston Smith and give RCC the win over Dakota County.

Earlier in the game, Smith, a Southland grad, put RCC up 4-0 with a two-out RBI single.
