Pearl Mason

Pearl Mae Mason was born April 3, 1923 in Chester, S.D., the daughter of Harris and Anna (Larson) Wilkerson. They moved to Austin in 1928 where she attended the Austin Public Schools. She was married to Harry Mason, who preceded her in death. Pearl worked in the laundry department at area hotels.
Pearl was a long time member of St. Johns Lutheran Church where she was active in the ladies circles. More recently, Pearl joined St. Olaf Lutheran Church. She enjoyed doing hand work, crocheting, and embroidery and sewing, as well as making denim quilts. She also enjoyed playing bingo and Yahtzee and was an avid reader who loved reading her Bible.
Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother and four sisters.
Pearl is survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Lloyd Wilkerson of Springfield, Minn., Richard Wilkerson of Lincoln, Calif., Arnold and Nancy Wilkerson of Sacramento, Calif., Jack and Sandy Wilkerson of Janesville, Wis., Robert Wilkerson of Oroville, Calif., Elsie Wilkerson of Idaho; sisters and brothers-in-law, Beverly and Darold Anderson of Austin, Arlene and Loren Vanek of Glenville, Minn., Judy and Gene Branson of St. Regis, Mont.; many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2010, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Todd Portinga, AiM officiating. Entombment will be at Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call for one hour before the service at the church. The family prefers memorials to the Prairie Manor Care Center or to the donor’s choice.
