With four Austin City Council spots up for election this fall, three council members have said they plan on filing for reelection as soon as Tuesday, when the filing period opens.

Dick Pacholl and John Martin were the latest to announce their plans, both doing so during Monday’s council meeting. Council member at-large Janet Anderson said previously in an e-mail that she too plans on running.

That leaves 1st Ward councilman Jeff Austin as the only one of the four to not announce plans — Austin said Monday he was still undecided. He has until June 1, which is when the filing period ends, to make his decision.

The position of mayor will also be on the ballot this November, and incumbent Tom Stiehm has said he intends on running for a third term. To date, only 3rd Ward councilwoman Marian Clennon has announced plans to run against Stiehm.

After the filing period ends, the next big step in the election process will be an Aug. 10 primary. The general election is scheduled for Nov. 2.
