Murvin O. Anderson, 89, of rural Elkton, Minn. passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the Grand Meadow Health Care Center.
He was born to William and Ella Anderson near Forest City, Iowa on Nov. 3, 1920. He received his education at the country school in Ellington Township near the family farm.
In 1949 Murvin married Verna Hartman and the couple started their family on a farm near his father’s farm east of Forest City. Later they would farm near Dunnell , Minn. and Peterson, Minn. In the mid-1970s he went into business as a painting contractor, along with his oldest son, Craig. Murvin never did retire from that business, and was still the “boss” in later life even though he wasn’t able to work. He was always a farmer at heart. His small acreage overlooked the farmland in the area, and he did his part by tilling his big garden and planting strawberry beds, vegetables and fruit trees.
Verna died in 1995 and two years later he married Verna Eames of Sun City West, Ariz. They enjoyed a few years together living in Arizona in the winter and Minnesota in the summer. He second wife died in 2009.
Murvin is survived by his two sons, Craig of Elkton, Minn. and William (Larisa) of Baxter, Minn.; two daughters, Jean (Mark) Eksuzian of Victoria, Minn. and Kristi (Gene) Frohling of Rowan, Iowa; a sister, Ardis Mote of Utica, Minn.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents and his wives.
Funeral services will be held at the Hindt Funeral Home in Grand Meadow, Minn. on May 8 at 11 a.m. A private burial will take place at a later date at the Lincoln Township cemetery near Doliver, Iowa.
Arrangements are by Hindt Funeral Home.
