Lyle Liquor hosts a benefit this weekend for Julie Ingvaldson, who was diagnosed with diabetes earlier this year and suffered multiple strokes last month.

The event takes place at 211 First St., beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday.

A menu including hot pork sandwiches, mashed potatoes and green beans is served from 4 to 7 p.m. Half-orders are $4 and regular orders are $6.50. A live auction begins at 6:30 p.m. where items including Minnesota Twins tickets, golf merchandise and Vikings and Twins items will be sold.

A friend of Ingvaldon’s, Jody Orth, said friends and family are planning the event to help cover her expenses while she is out of work from her job at International Paper.

Ingvaldson, 43, was diagnosed with diabetes, atherosclerosis (a cardiovascular disease), and vasculitus (inflammation of the blood vessels), in February.

In April, she had two strokes.

Ingvaldson is out of the hospital now, but is unable to work and is awaiting physical therapy, Orth said.

Orth said they don’t have a specific fundraising goal.

“We just want to do the best we can to help her through these tough times.”

Take-out meals and delivery are available. Call 325-2356 to order. Donations for the auction and a raffle can be dropped off at Lyle Liquor.
