Gladys Boe

Gladys Mae Boe, 100, of LeRoy, Minn., died Tuesday May 18, 2010, at the Adams Health Care Center in Adams, Minn.
Gladys was born Aug. 14, 1909, in Austin, Minn. to Eugene and Sarah Belle (Blowers) Worden. She grew up in Austin and graduated from Austin High School in 1927. After high school she attended one year of normal training, in Austin, and taught several years in the country schools in Bennington and Clayton townships.
While teaching she met Ervin Boe. They were married on Easter Sunday, April 5, 1931, at the Church of Christ in Austin. They lived and farmed on several farms in the Taopi, Minn., and LeRoy areas. In 1977, they retired from farming and moved to LeRoy. In 2005, at the age of 95, Gladys moved to Wildwood Grove Assisted Living in LeRoy. In 2008 she moved to Adams Health Care Center.
Gladys was a life long member of the LeRoy Lutheran Church where she had been an active member of the LWML and the circle groups. She belonged to the Happy Homemaker Club in Oakdale Township for 50 years and worked for the Sweet Shop in LeRoy for 25 years. She always enjoyed the people she worked with and the customers that came in. She was an avid gardener and loved growing flowers. Her family was her main priority in life. Gladys was a good cook and enjoyed Sunday meals with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by five children: Lorraine Phelps, Days Creek, Ore., Robert (Ellen) Boe, Chanhassen, Minn., Mary (Keith) Eastman, Riceville, Iowa, Stanley Boe and Elwood Boe both of LeRoy, Minn.; seven grandchildren: Erick, Brian, Scott and Tammy Boe and Gretchen, Stephen and David Eastman; eight great-grandchildren: Austin and Michael Boe, Brian, Kayla, Erica, Clinton, Chad and Christopher Eastman; three sisters—in-law: Martha, Bonnie and Maggie Boe and one brother-in-law Harlan Boe and three very special friends, Charlie and Marcia Anderson, Janice Boe.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Eugene in 1932, her husband Ervin in 1993, a sister Mable and a son-in-law, Delmar Phelps.
Funeral services for Gladyswill be held 11 a.m. Saturday May 22, 2010, at the LeRoy Evangelical Lutheran Church in LeRoy with the Rev. Sheri Mason officiating. Burial will be in the Marshall Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at the Church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
