Doris Baumann

Doris Constance Baumann, 89, died Tuesday evening, May 18, 2010, at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield, Minn.
Doris was born on Dec. 15, 1920, the daughter of Benjamin and Selma (Severts) Wilson in Olmsted County, on a farm in the Rock Dell area.  She attended rural country schools for her elementary education and graduated from Hayfield High School. 
On Aug. 3, 1940, she married Kenneth (Bud) W. Baumann at Trinity Lutheran Church in Osage, Iowa.  The couple worked and lived in Hayfield throughout their lives.  Kenneth died in 1996.  
Doris was a homemaker during the early years when her daughters were young, then worked with her husband at the Farmers Co-op Oil in Hayfield, as the bookkeeper.  From 1959-1974, she worked at the Hayfield Medical Clinic as an office nurse for Dr. Harold Elliott.  It was during this time that she started her nursing career and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. 
When the Hayfield Medical Clinic closed in 1974, she began work at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield.  She retired from the Care Center in 1986. 
Doris was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.  She taught Sunday School, was active in the Joy/Patience Circle and WELCA; a 50-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and member of the volunteer Auxiliary at Field Crest Care Center.  She enjoyed baking, growing flowers, and socializing with friends and family.  Her Norwegian Heritage was of special importance to her.  She and Bud traveled both in the USA and overseas, mostly to meet and visit relatives.
Doris is survived by her two daughters: Dorene (Donald) Ness, Kasson, Minn.; Sharon Kirtz, Rochester, Minn; four grandsons: Keith (Marjorie) Ness; Kevin (Rebecca) Ness; Robert (Jennifer) Kirtz;  Scott (Penny) Kirtz; eight great-grandchildren: Erik Ness, Kiana Ness, Sarah Radcliff, Jordan Radcliff, Zachary Kirtz, Zoe Kirtz, Zara Kirtz, and Bryan Kirtz; one sister-in-law: Gladys Wilson, Adams, Minn.; and family friend: Linda Sapp, Rochester, Minn. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; six brothers: Clifford, Ernest, Nordean, Lester, Stanley and Wilford; and one grandson, baby boy, Kirtz.
The funeral service for Doris Constance Baumann will be 11 a.m. Monday, May 24, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 104 First St. SE in Hayfield, with the Rev. Paul Hauschild officiating.  Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, May 24, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hayfield. Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Hayfield is in charge of arrangements.
