Cougars beat Austin baseball team

The Austin baseball team couldn’t avoid the big inning in a 13-6 loss at Mankato East Wednesday.

The Cougars (7-8 overall) sent eight hitters to the plate before recording an out in the third inning as they rallied to take an 8-4 lead. The first four East hitters of the frame walked and Derek Quame belted a grand slam.

Austin (3-14 overall, 2-13 Big Nine) scored twice in the fourth to pull within 8-6, but the Cougars tagged on five more runs in the fourth.
