The Blooming Prairie softball team ended its regular season on a 16-game winning streak when it edged out Janesville/Waldorf/Pemberton (7-8 overall) 3-0 in BP Tuesday.

The Awesome Blossoms (18-2 overall) scored all three of their runs in the fifth inning. Anna Peterson reached on an error and a run scored, Tayla Jones sacrificed a bunt for an RBI, and Peterson scored on a passed ball to make it 3-0.

J/W/P had runners on second and third with one out in the first inning and BP pitcher Erica Manske, who fanned 14, struck out two straight hitters.

“Erica’s pitching really well right now, which is good,” BP head coach Ali Mach said.

BP will likely open the subsection tournament Tuesday, May 25 at home and Mach hopes the team can work on its hitting before then.

“We’re not hitting as well as we have been,” she said. “We’ll have a week off to fix some things and start over.”
