His autobiography begins: “I was born in Austin, MN (you know, where SPAM is made).”

Accomplished musician Trace Bundy returns to his hometown this weekend for a free concert. The guitarist plays at the Austin Public Library Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

Bundy usually plays one show a year in Austin at the Paramount Theatre, but it was already booked the weekend he scheduled his trip home this year.

So, Paramount Theatre’s manager of operations Scott Anderson made some calls and secured a spot for him among the stacks.

“He is really quite an accomplished artist,” Anderson said. “He’s actually quite famous, and really puts on a great show.”

Bundy moved from Austin to Colorado as a child, and soon after picked up his first guitar.

Since, he has sold 58,000 albums on his record label, Honest Ninja Music, and regularly sells-out shows at venues across the country and around the world, in 16 countries.

Bundy was named “Most Promising New Talent” of 2008 by Acoustic Guitar Magazine, and won third place in the magazine’s “Best Fingerstyle Guitarist” category the same year.

Doors open at the library at 7 p.m. Admittance is free. Only 200 attendees will be allowed.
