The United Way of Mower County will hold its 51st annual meeting Tuesday night at the Hormel Historic Home.

At around 4:30 p.m., United Way officials plan to announce the totals of the 2009 campaign. A reception is scheduled to begin at 5:15 p.m., followed by a 5:30 p.m. dinner and a 6 p.m. desert and time for recognizing contributors.

While the annual meeting has been a more informal event in the past, United Way Spokeswoman Chris Grev said this year’s meeting will feature a dinner to thank the businesses and individuals that supported this fundraising campaign. Grev said they’ll also discuss how some of that fundraising money will be used.

As of Dec. 16, the campaign had raised $864,163 — 95 percent of their goal. Since then, Executive Director Mandi Lighthizer-Schmidt said the United Way surpassed 95 percent.

The public is welcome to attend the meeting. While the deadline to RSVP for the dinner was Friday, Grev said people interested can call the United Way — 437-2313 — to see if meals are still available.
