Sylvester John Kronebusch, 93, of Austin died Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
He was born May 12, 1916 at (Oak Ridge) Minneiska, Minn. to Jacob and Cecelia (Lehnertz) Kronebusch. Sylvester was raised by his father and Anne (Zils) Kronebusch upon his mother’s death. He grew up farming, eventually moving to Austin in 1939 to work for Hormel where he continued until his retirement in 1978.
Sylvester married Delores Sarah Beck on Nov. 18, 1940 and raised four children: John (Cathy) Kronebusch, Woodbridge, Va., Joann Kronebusch, Stevens Point, Wis., Brother Paul Joseph Kronebusch, New Melleray Abbey, Peosta, Iowa, Michael Kronebusch (Julia VanCleve), Minneapolis. 
Sylvester was a dedicated family man visiting relatives regularly throughout his life.  He enjoyed gardening, traveling and playing cards. He also shared his abundant garden crops with neighbors and those in need. Sylvester spent many years as a volunteer at the Austin Senior Center. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by three brothers and three sisters, Francis (Lucille) Kronebusch of Winona, Minn., Betty Kellett of Rochester, Minn., Elaine (Bruce) Stanton of Winona, Minn., Robert (Jean) Kronebusch of Minnesota City, Minn., Carol Orlowske of Winona, Minn., Thomas (Arlene) Kronebusch of Winona, Minn.; sister-in-law, Theresa Kronebusch of Altura, Minn.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren in Virginia.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Austin with Father Dale Tupper officiating. There will be a 7 p.m. rosary on Friday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. and also one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
