Robert Edsel Miller, 91, of Dexter, died Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield, Minn. where he was a resident the last two years.
Robert Edsel Miller was born Dec. 30, 1918 on a farm near Grand Meadow to Jens C. and Edith M. (Root) Miller. He married Arlene Sievertsen on June 27, 1943, in Spring Valley. The couple made their home on a farm near Dexter. Mr. Miller enjoyed farming and working on farm equipment at the Oliver Tractor Plant in Charles City, Iowa. In his retirement years, he enjoyed going to northern Minnesota, fishing with Arlene and the grandchildren. He was always busy fixing anything that needed repair.
Survivors include a daughter, Colleen (Don) Tebay of Brownsdale; six grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene; a son, Garry; his parents, Jens and Edith; a brother, Earl, and sister, Almeda.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Crane Community Chapel in Austin with the Rev. Dale Christiansen officiating. Interment will be in Grand Meadow Cemetery in Grand Meadow, Minn. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday evening, April 28, 2010, at the Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 Second St. NW, Hayfield, and one hour before the service on Thursday at the church in Austin.
