Richard Battin

Richard Lee Battin, 39, died at his home in Austin Friday, April 2, 2010. 
He was born Feb. 22, 1971 to Virgil and Betty Lou (Klugges) Battin in Austin, where he grew up and graduated from high school in 1989. After graduation from Riverland College, Richard was employed as a programmer at IBI Data in Brownsdale and later at Austin Packaging. He enjoyed spending time with his dog, Max, reading Stephen King novels and collecting Elvis memorabilia.
Survivors include his father, Virgil of Minneapolis; brother, Ronald Battin of Bolivar, Mo.; several half brothers and sisters; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 8, 2010 at Worlein Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Dale Christiansen officiating. Visitation will be held one hour before the service. Interment is at a later date.
Memorials are preferred to donor’s choice.
Worlein Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
