Area polka fans can prepare to put on their Sunday’s finest.

Austin’s Grace Lutheran Church holds its annual “Polka Worship Service” next weekend where all hymns and liturgical chanting will be done to polka numbers.

“It’s a contemporary worship service,” explained The Rev. Jeff Forbes. “It’s usually very popular. People from other churches attend, and everyone is welcome.”

When: Sunday, April 11 at 10 a.m.

Where: Grace Luthera Church 2001 Sixth Ave. SE.

Pastoral intern Rob Zahn will preach at the service as Forbes usually takes vacation during Polka-week.

“It is a real worship service, but it’s light-hearted,” he said. “Some people do dance.”

Grace Lutheran Church holds contemporary services monthly.

The church will also hold a pancake breakfast Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
