Mina Asmus

Mina Asmus, 78, of Blue Earth died Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at her home.
Mina was born July 21, 1931 in Crosby, Minn., the daughter of John and Alta (Oppelt) Van Epps. She lived in Crosby until 1940 when she moved to Austin. She was a 1949 graduate of Austin High School. Mina moved to Frost in 1968 and was married to Robert M. Asmus in December of 1968 in Sioux Falls, S.D. She was a member of the Blue Earth American Legion Auxiliary before moving to Denver, Colo. in 1982 where she worked as a switchboard operator at the prestigious Brown Palace Hotel. She retired in 1995 and returned to Blue Earth in 2001.
Mina is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Tunison of Hayfield, Connie Remke of Henderson, Colo., Mara Ruff of Denver, Colo., Jackie Christgau of Austin, Kathy Goodell of St. Paul, Robin Stenzel of Delavan, Linda Brazell of Blackhawk, Colo.; her sons, Roger Asmus of Belmond, Iowa, Donald Asmus of Blue Earth; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Asmus in 1977; and a brother, Jack Van Epps.
A public celebration of her life will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2010 at the Robin and Dennis Stenzel Farm, 15502 440th Ave., Delavan. Further services will be held at a later date in Colorado.
