Marian Koeck

Marian A. Koeck, 92, of Bloomington, Minn., longtime Austin resident, died April 5, 2010.
She was born Jan. 15, 1918 in Cambridge, Ohio to Albert and Bessie Sarchet. She graduated from high school and business college in Cambridge. She was united in marriage with Thomas J. Koeck on July 21, 1944 and they made their home in Austin at the conclusion of WWII. She was employed by Austin National Insurance Co. for many years.
She was a voracious reader and expert bridge player; loved travel, theater and concerts. Her beautiful needlepoint creations are cherished by family and friends. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church and a dedicated volunteer for the Red Cross. She also was involved in the Floral Club, Symphony Study Group and Daughters of the American Revolution. Marian will be remembered always for her devotion to her husband and family.
Marian is survived by her husband of 64 years, Thomas J. Koeck; children, Gretchen (Jack) Sjoholm, Jr. of St. Paul, George (Kim) Koeck of Fargo and Joann Nordin (Bruce Jones) of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Sarah (Jeffrey) Gorsuch, Kristin Sjoholm, Emily, Zachary, Mackenzie and Marc Koeck; and great-granddaughter, Adela Sjoholm.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 9 at the Chapel at Meadow Woods Assisted Living, 1301 East 100th Street, Bloomington, Minn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to American Red Cross, Mower County Chapter, Austin Public Library, or First United Methodist Church, Austin.
