An Austin woman is without a home following a fire Wednesday night at the two-story house she rented.
Firefighters arrived at the home at 705 Seventh Ave. SE at approximately 7:30 p.m. to find flames and smoke visible in the home. According to Austin commander Brian Lovik, Jennifer Branson and her three children were not at home at the time.
Lovik said the home, “was inaccessible for awhile.”
The call was made by a neighbor.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, although the blaze did destroy the house.
Steve Wolf, deputy state fire marshal, will be in Austin to help investigate the fire Thursday morning Lovik said.
Nobody was injured and a cat, trapped in the house during the fire, was taken out alive. The fire department left the scene at around 9 p.m.
