Edward Flitton

Edward H. Flitton, 67, attorney with Holland & Hart LLP Colorado Springs, Colo., passed away suddenly from a massive heart attack on March 27, 2010.
Born to Edward and Lucile Flitton in Austin on Dec. 26, 1942, Ed graduated from Austin High School in 1960, Harvard College in 1964 and the University of Chicago Law School in 1967. From 1967 to 1969 he taught commercial law at the University of Auckland, New Zealand. Subsequently, he practiced law in Colorado Springs and joined the law firm of Holland and Hart. During 24 years with Holland & Hart, Ed was one of the most respected leaders in the firm’s history. In 2000 he was selected to serve as the firm’s managing partner, a role he fulfilled through 2006.
A former drummer in the Austin High School and Harvard bands, he loved jazz music and recently picked up the ukulele. He loved to play golf, ran in the Pikes Peak Marathon, biked in the Children’s Hospital Courage Classic, and was active in community service and land conservation.
He is survived by his wife, Karen; daughters, Jennifer Flitton Adams (Richard), Rebecca Ciancanelli (Bill) and Elizabeth McClear (Brian); grandchildren, Luca and Mimi Ciancanelli; his sister, Frances Flitton Compton (Dick); and nieces, Lisa Bateson (Michael) and Suzanne Compton (John Allison).
A memorial service was held in Colorado Springs on Monday, April 5.
