David Schaefer

David Carl Schaefer, 85, of Austin, died Monday morning, April 26, 2010, at the Adams Health Care Center in Adams. 
He was born May 20, 1924 to Matthew and Mary (Heimer) Schaefer in Lodi Township, Minn. He grew up on a farm near Rose Creek. He married Corrinne Gluth on Oct. 29, 1949 in Austin. Employed by Hormel Foods, David and Corrinne spent 38 years in Fremont, Neb. They returned to Austin in 1989 where they joined Grace Lutheran Church. David raised tea roses and enjoyed hunting, fishing, cars and mechanic work. He looked forward to family gatherings at Thanksgiving each year.
Survivors include three sons, William Schaefer, George (Nona) Schaefer and David Schaefer; 11 grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; brothers, Donavon, Richard and Duane; sisters, Florence Lee, Lucille Hanson and Bernice Malchesisky. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Corrinne; brothers, Orin and Thomas; sister, Adeline Hanson.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, May 1, 2010 at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin with Pastor Jeffrey Forbes officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday at Worlein Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Saturday. Interment is at Oakwood Cemetery. 
The family prefers memorials to the American Cancer Society.
