Mower County now has contracts in place with all of the five county unions for 2010.

The Mower County Board of Commissioners approved the 2010 contract for the UAW union, which accounts for highway workers, on Tuesday morning at their weekly county board meeting.

Like the contracts with the other four unions, the contact is a soft freeze. The employees received step increases, but they did not receive cost of living increases, and the county did not contribute any more than last year for health insurance.

There was some urgency for the county to complete the contracts with the highway department because the contracts for the employees were set to expire April 30.
