Riverland pitcher Autumn Jurgensen didn’t walk a hitter in 14 innings of work and the Blue Devils softball team swept Minnesota West 12-1 and 4-2 in Worthington Friday.
Jurgensen allowed a total of just six hits in the wins.
“Autumn did a great job of keeping them off balanced and our defense, with the exception of two plays, played great,” RCC head coach Dan Swift said.
The No. 10 nationally ranked Blue Devils (18-7 overall, 13-1 MCAC South) scored three runs in the second inning of the nightcap to take the lead for good. Thenedra Corey scored on a passed ball, Mandy May had an RBI double and Laura Meyer had a sacrifice to score May.
RCC jumped out to a 4-1 lead in the opener and it scored five times in the fourth to put it away. May, Holly Waltz and Meyer all singled in runs in the inning.
“Our team is doing well in our offensive situations,” Swift said. “Moving runners and being aggressive on the bases is where we are getting a lot of runs.”
