Alfred Kording

Alfred Henry Kording, 66, of Hayfield died at Austin Medical Center Tuesday evening, April 13, 2010. 
He was born Feb. 25, 1944 to Henry and Wilhelmina (Meyer) Kording in Rochester, Minn. He graduated from Hayfield High School in 1962 before earning his electronics technician degree at Austin Vocational Technical Institute in 1965. He moved to St. Louis Park in 1967 where he worked at Honeywell in the ordnance division. In 1970 he relocated to Bismarck, N.D., then later to Minneapolis where he was employed by Diebold, Inc. for 25 years.
A handyman, he enjoyed repairing everything for everybody. He belonged to the Northland Antique Radio Club, Pavek Museum, the Antique Radio Club, Cedar River Watershed Board, and Land Stewardship. Al enjoyed his many trips to South Dakota, especially Bear Butte and riding the rails through Canada. He also enjoyed cruising on the Chessie ferry between Manitowac and Ludington.
Survivors include special friend, Mary Lou Stursa of Austin; aunt, Irene Meyer of Dodge Center; cousins, relatives, friends; and his cat, Sunny, his duck and chickens. 
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 17, 2010. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday at Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home.  Interment is at Blooming Prairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Dodge County Historical Society, Ducks Unlimited, Westfield Church or Pavek Museum.
