Stephen “Steve” Adair

Stephen “Steve” Robert Adair, 55, died Dec. 8, 2009, at his home in Santa Fe, N.M.  
Steve was born on Feb. 1, 1954, in Truth or Consequences, N.M. to Robert and Irene Adair. He was one of four siblings.
Steve graduated from Austin High School in 1972. He continued his education at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, N.M., graduating with a degree in finance. Later in life, at the age of 40, Steve furthered his education at the New Mexico Institute of Mining & Technology in Socorro, N.M. He graduated  in 1997 with a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering with honors. He was a member of the Engineering Honor Society, Tau Beta Pi.
Steve had a very exciting career in the petroleum industry, working on numerous offshore exploration oil rigs and natural gas fields. He traveled the world extensively and would always bring back wonderful gifts and wild, adventurous stories.
Steve loved the water. His passions were windsurfing and kite-boarding. He spent much of  his life on the lakes of New Mexico, and the ocean off the coast of Maui, Hawaii. He maintained a residence in Makawao, Hawaii, close to one of his favorite places on earth, Kanaha Beach. It was here that Steve was truly at peace. His ashes will be spread here, in his paradise, where he can remain for eternity. His memory is forever in the hearts of his family and friends and will never be forgotten.   
Steve is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, James and Lourdes Adair; brother, William Adair; sister, Kathleen Adair; and nephews, Michael, Jason, Sean, Josh, and Chris; cousins, Dave and Paul  Wangen, Karen Freese; aunt, Geri;  and, uncle Omer Wangen. 
A  Memorial will be held on April 10 at 3 p.m. at the Funeral Options Chapel, 417 E. Rodeo Road, Santa Fe, N.M.
