Rev. Charles Sargent

Rev. Charles L. Sargent, 66, of Austin, died Monday, March 29, 2010 at the Austin Medical Center.
Charles was born Sept. 18, 1943 in LaCrosse, Wis. to Harold and Viola Sargent. He grew up in LaCrosse and graduated from high school.
Charles loved music and played accordion and piano with several Midwest bands. He then went to Radio School in Minneapolis and worked in broadcasting for many years.
On Aug. 21, 1969, he married Marlene Vatland in Sioux Falls, S.D. Charles went on to Bible college and seminary and pastored for 20 years. 
Survivors include his wife, Marlene Sargent, Austin; son, Matthew Sargent, England; daughter-in-law, Dana Sargent; and granddaughters, Kathryn and Kayla Sargent, Rolla, Mo.; sisters-in-law, Nancy Sargent and Grace Sargent, both of LaCrosse, Wis.; nieces, Laura Wateski and Colleen Knoepke, both of LaCrosse, Wis.; nephews, Danny Sargent, LaCrosse, Wis., Mark Sargent, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael; brothers, Jim Sargent and Dale Sargent; sister, Marie Sargent; niece, Yvonne Sargent.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at Mayer Funeral Home with the Rev. Curly Werth officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Friday and also one hour before the service at Mayer Funeral Home on Saturday.
The family has requested that no flowers be sent.
Mayer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
