Pacelli students go back in time with “Baby Talk”

High school students will be jabbering and whining like babies this weekend — some of them will be doing so on stage.

The Pacelli High School Drama Department presents “Baby Talk” on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.

The comedy, written by Billy St. John, features nine graduating high school seniors who take a journey through time back to when they were 1-year-olds. Their current principal, Mrs. Witherspoon, played by Amanda Enstad, was their daycare director and fondly remembers these times.

Mrs. Witherspoon recalls that Jock had a crush on Prissy, the pretty child. The other kids all reacted in horror. The babies’ attempts to break up Jock and Prissy tell a bit about the nature of each child, which, as the audience learns in the final scene, doesn’t change much after infancy.

The cast list includes John Ethan as IQ, Abby Leif as Boo Hoo, Annie Holtz as Dee Dee, Kayla Finney as Tattle, Justin Servellen as Buster, Colton Scherer as Joker, Jacob Evans as Jock, Brady Stier as Timmy, Stephanie Kocer as Prissy and Michael Bergstrom as Meanie.

The production will be performed under the direction of drama director, Lia Culbert and assistant director, Barb Kasel. Stage managers are Halla Nelson and Stephanie Kasel; lights manager is Mathew Kasel.

Tickets will be sold at the door and are $5 for adults, $3 for students (K-12), and $15 for a family.
