Chateau Raceway will host Car Show Saturday

The 2010 stock car racing season is set to kick off on Saturday, March 20 with a preview of what fans will get to see in action on Friday nights this summer at the Chateau Raceway in Lansing.

The tracks annual car show will be held, but at a new location. This year’s edition will be held indoors at Holiday Dodge, Chrysler & Jeep located just off I-90 at 2905 West Oakland Avenue in Austin. This year it will be a one day show held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Prizes will be awarded to the best appearing cars in all six classes that are raced weekly at Chateau. Drivers bringing their cars will receive a free pit pass good for the season opener. Drivers registration forms will be available and licenses along with pit area spots will be for sale also.

Depending on how the spring thaw goes, the official start of racing will be a practice day tentatively set for Sunday, March 28. The 2010 season opener is also tentatively set for Friday, April 2. Fans will see a change in the weekly lineup of classes run this season also.

I.M.C.A. Stock Cars will take the place of the Wissota Super Stocks in 2010. The rest of the divisions will remain the same with USRA Modifieds, Wissota Midwest Modifieds and Street Stocks along with the Pure Stock and Hornet divisions.

This year’s schedule features twenty-seven dates and is chock full of specials. The United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS) makes two stops on May 28 and September 3. The September show will once again be a part of the USMTS Casey’s General Stores Hunt For The National Championship. The 13th annual Mike Guttormson Memorial will be held on June 4.

On July 29 it will be the Wissota Race of Champions qualifier night. The winners in the Wissota sanctioned divisions that evening will be qualified for the Race of Champions to be held at the Wissota 100 at Huron, South Dakota in September.

On August 13 the late models will return with the Corn Belt Clash. It will be the first late model show in almost thirty years at the speedway. The Midwest Modified Fall Nationals are slated for September 10-11. Rounding out the season will be the Buzz Festival on October 1-2.
