A 28-year-old Austin man accused of slashing another man with a knife pleaded guilty to gross misdemeanor charges on Friday.
Herbonardt Linter Jim was charged in January with felony second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon and making terroristic threats, a gross misdemeanor. He also faced a separate misdemeanor assault charge.
He pleaded guilty Friday to the terroristic threats and the felony charge was dismissed.
The incident occurred at a house on the 300 block of 18th Street Northwest at around 11 p.m. Jan. 9.
According to a police report, another person in the home, a 25-year-old male, called police because he was scared of what Jim might do.
Earlier, the reportee was cut by a knife when he tried to stop Jim from using it against another man. According to the report, Jim said he was going to kill that other man with the weapon.
The 25-year-old male subsequently took all the knives he could find in the kitchen and hid them elsewhere in the house, the report states.
The suspect also allegedly said he broke the thumb of the 18-year-old man he was threatening. When police arrived, the 18-year-old was bloody and appeared to be heavily intoxicated. He refused medical attention.
A fourth man, 27, was arrested for allegedly cursing at officers and being combative while they were in the house.
Jim will be sentenced May 21.
