Wilbur Earl Funk died on February 3, 2010, in Portland, Ore. from congestive heart failure.
Born in Belgrade, Mont., on March 7, 1925, to Earl and Gertrude Funk, he attended public schools in Belgrade, Manhattan and Bozeman, Mont. He received both his Bachelor and Master of Music Education degrees from the University of Montana.
His devoted career in music education included public school teaching in St. Ignatius, Mont., Lewistown Mont., Austin, Minn., Havre, Mont., and Portland, Mont.
For most of his adult life, he was active as a church choir director. An avid athlete and sports fan, he was inducted into the Montana Softball Hall of Fame and played semi-professional baseball.
He is survived by his wife, Celia; former wife, Joyce Leonard; sons, Gary (Sylvia), Eric (Eugenia) and Matthew; daughters: Nancy Wilson (Don), Melody, and daughter-in-law: Laura; brothers: Harold and Vern, and sister: Lorene; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Don, Ken, Al, Art and sister, Carol Jean.
A celebration of his life will be held on March 7, 2010, at Central Lutheran Church, Portland, Ore. at 2 p.m. His ashes will be scattered in his beloved Mission Mountains in Montana. Contributions may be made to the Central Lutheran Church Restoration Fund or at
 local food bank.
