Riverland guard Brian Voigt missed just one shot inside the three-point line as he led the Blue Devils to a 75-72 victory over Minnesota West in Worthington Wednesday night.

Voigt, a sophomore from Southland, scored 24 points, was 8-for-12 from the field, 4-for-7 on threes, and 4-for-4 from the free throw line.

“Brian had a monster game for us,” RCC head coach Dan Swift said.

RCC (9-13 overall, 2-5 MCAC South) led by 14 with 10 minutes to go in the contest, but Minnesota West (4-15 overall, 1-7 MCAC South) hit a flurry of threes to pull closer and even take the lead in the last three minutes.

The Blue Devils survived by hitting 88 percent (21-for-24) of their free throws on the night.

“They were chipping away and we were fortunate enough to knock down our free throws,” Swift said.
