An accident southeast of Austin Tuesday left two motorists with minor injuries.

The crash occurred at the intersection of 150th Street and 610th Avenue in Adams Township at around 1:50 p.m., according to a sheriff’s department report.

Charles Frederick Peterson, 61, of rural Austin, said he was stopped at a stop sign on 150th Street and proceeded to pull onto 610th Avenue, not noticing an oncoming vehicle, which did not have a stop sign.

Peterson’s car ended up in a ditch, while the vehicle being driven by Brandon John Emanuel, 26, of Rose Creek, spun around on the road. Both cars sustained heavy front end damage, according to the report.

Emanuel suffered a cut to his forehead, but he was walking and alert when medical personnel arrived. He was taken by ambulance to the Austin Medical Center as a precaution.

Peterson was also taken to the AMC with unspecified injuries. Conditions of both men were not immediately available Wednesday morning.

Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi said Peterson will be receiving a misdemeanor citation in the mail for failing to obey the stop sign.
