Sheila E. Robb, Age 63, of Plymouth, Minn. passed away on Feb. 17, 2010.
A devoted “brand champion” of the Mayo Clinic where she dealt resolutely and graciously for 10 years with her breast cancer, which eventually metastasized.
Born in 1946, Sheila was Miss Austin 1964. A 1968 graduate of Northwestern University in Chicago, Ill. Sheila had a long and successful retail career, which included Regional Manager for Braun’s, and store manager at multiple Twin Cities department stores where she won a Manager of the Year award. These store locations included downtown St Paul, Knollwood, Brookdale, Maplewood, and Burnsville amongst others. It was the same group of stores but due to mergers and acquisitions the name changed from Powers to Donaldsons, to Donaldsons (Federated), to Carsons, and Carsons (PA Bergner).
Next, at Gabberts she managed the Design Studio and later Relationship Marketing. At General Mills World Headquarters, she oversaw the Main Street area including three company stores. Calling her position “the best job in retail;” she always said it was the best job she ever had and the best employer she ever worked for.
Sheila excelled at and focused on developing the careers of others as a mentor, manager, and colleague. At Colonial Church of Edina, she held a variety of lay leadership positions over the years including Church Council, Treasurer and Deacon. She was an avid gardener, an active antique adventurer, and the proud owner of a long line of Samoyed dogs.
Sheila is survived by her husband Ted and many cousins on both the Ellingson and Ehmke side.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Rose and Melvin Ehmke of Austin, Minn., and grandmother Cora Ellingson.
A emorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 26, 2010 at Colonial Church of Edina. Memorials may be made in Sheila’s name to the Kommen Race for the Cure or to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
