Robert Wobbrock

Robert William Wobbrock, 84, of Austin, died at his home in Austin Tuesday evening, Feb. 23, 2010. 
He was born July 3, 1925 to William and Selma (Radke) Wobbrock in Faribault, Minn. Following graduation from high school, he joined the Army during World War II and, serving in New Guinea, he gained the rank of Tech-5. After his discharge, he attended the Minnesota School of Business before moving to Austin. He married Thelma Erdman on May 10, 1947. They moved to Austin in 1948 where Robert was employed by Geo. A. Hormel & Company. A member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church, he was an active volunteer and well known as an usher. He loved to play golf and belonged to Cedar River County Club for 30 years. Thelma passed away on Nov. 5, 2006.
Survivors include eight children, Robert (Vicky) Wobbrock of Bricelyn, Thomas Wobbrock of Austin, Beth (Tom) Houchin of Glendale, Ariz., Sheila Supalla of Fairmont, Greg (Dag) Wobbrock of Tacoma, Wash., Laurie Sheimo of Austin, Cheryl (Al) Ruzek of Cass Lake, Jolynn Koster of Blooming Prairie; 18 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; seven siblings, William, Charles, David (Connie) and Audrey Wobbrock; Marilyn (William) Miller, Marcia (Richard) Johnson and Linda (James) Novotney; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma; his parents; five siblings, Sandra, Phyllis, Kareen, Gerald and Lisa; a son-in-law, James Koster.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010 at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with Pastor Ron Barnett officiating. Friends may call from 4:30 to 7 p.m., Friday at Worlein Funeral Home and at the church one-half hour prior to the service. There will be no reviewal. Burial will be at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
