Riverland’s Taylor Morgan blocked an offensive put-back attempt by Ridgewater at the buzzer as the Blue Devils won 84-83 in four overtimes in Willmar Wednesday.

The Blue Devils (11-15 overall, 4-7 MCAC South) took the lead when AJ Kortz, who had 26 points, scored on a lay-up on RCC’s last possession.

“You name it and it happened in this game,” RCC head coach Dan Swift said. “There were made free throws, missed free throws and plenty of opportunities.”

The Blue Devils survived the long contest despite missing four players to injury — including Brian Voigt, Khirey Floyd and Taylor Oetken.

RCC led 43-34 at the half, but Ridgewater (10-16 overall, 3-8 MCAC South) pulled closer in the second half.

“Once it got to overtime it was a dog fight between both teams,” Swift said.
