Carley Grunewald scored a hat trick as the Austin girls hockey team overpowered Rochester Century in Austin Saturday 7-0.

The Packers outshot their opponent 51 to 26 and after leading 1-0 following the first period, scored six goals in the final two.

“After awakening between periods, we came out and had 30 shots on goal to their nine,” Austin coach Denny Bray said. “So the girls picked it up after a little discussion. I was really happy with the second and third periods of play.

Ashley Arhart contributed two goals for the Packers, while Abby Gallaher and Rebecca Bartlett each scored one.

For Bartlett, it was her first varisty goal.
