It was finally the Packers’ turn to have a late answer. After dropping nine contests this season by six points or less, Austin was staring at a three-point deficit with time running out.
That’s when Connor Gunderson, who had 25 points and 12 rebounds, pulled up from the top of the key and drilled a three to force overtime, where the Packers used a 15-5 run to win 64-54 in Caledonia Saturday.
Austin (12-11 overall) got a solid overtime effort from T.J. Fritz, who scored 17 points total.
“It was nice to finally come from behind and win for once,” Austin assistant coach Corey Christopherson said. “We got off to kind of a slow start but we forced 23 turnovers to stay in it.”
Austin head coach Kris Fadness used to coach at Caledonia (18-5 overall) where he led the Warriors to a state title.
The Packers will close out their regular season next Friday at Rochester Century.
