James McMartin

James Edward McMartin, 47, of Austin passed away Tuesday morning, Feb. 2, 2010, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, following a massive stroke on Jan. 15, 2010.
James was born June 1, 1962, in Austin, the son of Barbara Thompson and Dean McMartin, Sr.
James met Darla in Wells, Minn. in 1985. They later moved to Austin, Minn. and married in 1999. They divorced in 2007, and reunited in 2009. James worked for Swift-Eckrich in Wells; QPP in Austin; SoyMor in Albert Lea, Minn.; and Viracon in Owatonna, Minn. He served in the Army National Guard and the Air Force.
James was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Brownsdale, Minn. He enjoyed fishing, camping, miniature golf, teaching his dogs to catch a Frisbee and spending time with his friends.
James is survived by Darla McMartin; step-father, Robert Thompson, Brownsdale, Minn.; one daughter, Misty (Will) Hall and family, Jasmine and Zander, Carlton, Minn.; one step-daughter, Tina (Dale) King and family, Cody, Chantae and Shian, Wells, Minn.; two step-sons, Tracy Roberts and family, Justin and Kelsey, Wells, Minn.; Dustin Whiteis and Christina Thomas and family, Logan and Harley, Wells, Minn.; two sisters, Lindy (Brian) Hookland, Lancaster, Calif.; Evonne (Mark) Godbout, Brownsdale, Minn.; one step-sister, Karrie Zebel, St. Paul, Minn.; three brothers, Gregory (Debbie) McMartin, Brownsdale, Minn., Dean McMartin, Brownsdale, Minn., Bradley McMartin, Rose Creek, Minn.; one step-brother, Mark Thompson, Brownsdale, Minn.; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and his very special best friends, Kenny (Sandy) Baxter and their family, Travis, Tiara, Takoda, Shaina, Nicole and Kaley.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Barbara Thompson and Dean McMartin, Sr.; grandparents, Walter and Ida Bray; brother, Ricky McMartin; and step-brother, Charles Thompson.
A memorial service will be held on Feb. 13, 2010 at the Community Center in Brownsdale, Minn. at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Jeffery Sage Officiating. Inurnment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Austin, Minn. at a later date.
