Frank Wasko

Frank J. Wasko, 96, of Chetek, Wis. died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010 at Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake.
Frank was born Sept. 2, 1913 to Stephen and Mary (Josefik) Wasko in Rusk County. He married Margaret Dion in 1971 in Duluth, Minn. He owned and operated Frank’s Auto Body Repair in Chetek and also worked in Rice Lake in the auto body industry. He moved to Austin and taught auto body repair at the vocational school for 24 years. He moved back to Chetek in 1978. Frank’s many hobbies were, ice fishing, hunting, restoring antique cars, making rubber stamps for greeting cards, gardening and several other crafts. He taught himself how to read and loved reading. He also enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and abroad.
Frank is survived by his wife, Margaret of Chetek; one son, Gerald (Judy) Wasko of Smithland, Ky.; one stepson, Tom Tibbie of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Joyce Driskill of Tiline, Ky. and Sandra Scott of North Branch, Minn.; two stepdaughters, Barbara Tibbie of Austin and Kathryn Bina of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Stephen and Mary Wasko; grandson, Todd Burton; four brothers, Steve, Charlie, Joe and Ed; four sisters, Mary, Ann, Rose and Josephine.
A funeral service will be held Monday, March 1, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Burnham-Ours Funeral Home in Chetek, Wis. with Deacon Jim Dennis officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at St. Boniface Cemetery in Chetek.
