Donald F. Pesch, 80
Donald F. Pesch, 80, of Austin, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Don was born Aug. 13, 1929 in Austin to George and Irene (Thein) Pesch. He attended Rose Creek schools, graduated from high school in 1946 and after graduation served in the Marines until 1948. He was stationed in Guam and Japan. On Nov. 18, 1950, he was united in marriage to Jane M. Uschold at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Austin.
Don was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 10. He worked in his trade for 45 years. Don began his apprenticeship in the sheet metal trade while working at Ideal Heating and Sheet Metal Company and then became a journeyman in 1952 while employed there from 1949-1964. He then began his employment with Scheid Plumbing and Heating Company (now Himec-Scheid) and worked there until his retirement in December of 1992. Don was a charter member of St. Edward’s Catholic Church, served on the church’s finance committee along with volunteer work for the church’s building projects. He also served on the Oak Park Village Board of Directors.
 Don enjoyed reading (the Austin Public Library was like his second home), traveling, fishing, playing cards and watching his grandkids’ music and sporting events.
Survivors include his wife of almost 60 years, Jane, Austin; three sons, David (Beth), Rochester, Daniel, Rochester, Thomas (friend Carol Erickson), Chanhassen; two daughters, Dianne (Daniel) Miller, Austin, Carolyn (Paul) Czaplewski, Hayfield; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Mary (Richard) Pacholl, Austin, Rose Flagg, Blaine; one brother, Gerald (Cheryl), Cedar Rapids, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Lorraine Jasinski; nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Irene Pesch; a son, Michael; five brothers, Richard, Glen, Robert, William and James; brother-in-law, Jack Flagg.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 1, 2010 at St. Edward’s Catholic Church with Father Joe Fogal officiating. There will be a 7 p.m. wake service on Sunday at Mayer Funeral Home where friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. and also one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.
    Arrangements are by Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes and Mayer Funeral Home.
