Darla Bailey

Darla Marie Bailey, 63, of Blooming Prairie, died Sunday morning, Jan. 31, 2010, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. 
She was born Sept. 6, 1946 to Russell and Pearl Marie (Madson) Swenson in Blooming Prairie, where she grew up and graduated from high school in 1964. After attending Whittier College in Whittier, Calif., she was employed as a keypunch operator. She married William Allen “Bill” Bailey on Oct. 1, 1966 at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie. Darla and Bill moved to Rockford, Ill., where they made their home for nearly nine years before returning to Blooming Prairie to raise a family. A member of First Lutheran Church, Darla belonged to WELCA and also volunteered at VFW Auxiliary and the Blooming Prairie Schools.
Survivors include her husband, William “Bill” Bailey of Blooming Prairie; three children, Jeff (Sharon) Bailey of Blooming Prairie, Dawn Bailey of Houston, Texas, Greg Bailey of Blooming Prairie; four grandchildren, Reese, Cortney, Shelby and Austin; one great-granddaughter, Willow; four brothers, Richard (Pat) Swenson of Faribault, Ronald Swenson of Blooming Prairie, David (Rita) Swenson of Albert Lea, Dennis (Laura) Espland of Windom; many other relatives and friends. 
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Darrell; and stepfather, Raymond Espland.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 5, 2009 at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie with Pastor Charles Leonard officiating. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday at Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home and at the church one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Red Oak Grove Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.
